Professional Review

If there are games adapted to PC least, that must be sports. But the 2015 installment of NBA by 2K Sports doesn’t stick to consoles, and those who prefer PC can enjoy the best basketball simulator too.

Graphics: 5

Still, it’s third-person view sports game simulating real basketball, and this time it’s more detailed than ever. On PC it supports high (really HIGH) resolution displays, and if your hardware can handle that, then set the details on High. You can set up separately Player, Texture and Crowd detail level. If all set on Max, it provides the unseen realism.

Alas, the game doesn’t support SLI or Crossfire, so your single video card should be really powerful to handle such a labor.

Gameplay: 5

When on the playground, you’ll feel “more of the same stuff.” Still, you either control the team or focus on a single player. There is a complicated movement system you need to master to go, and all that time you need to watch the situation. But if you learn it “by hand” and automatize your moves, you’ll enjoy it much more. The mechanics of the game is similar to the previous installment, so with a proper controller, you’ll experience no difficulties.

MyGM is a mode where you are the manager, so you control everything behind the scenes. It’s a kind of strategy, with less playground action, but it has its own charm.

MyCareer mode has been completely rewritten. Now it’s like a movie directed by… Spike Lee (the author of He Got Game, by the way; was there any wiser option?) So if you’ve tried this mode, this time it’s sure to surprise you!

PvP is also still here. Your personalized player can join an online team and fight the other team with real people behind, too. This experience can be more exciting than competing AI, even masked by famous appearance. MyLeague is the largest PvP mode, with 1 up to 30 players in your competition (by teams number), and only one champion. There is also Gauntlet mode, with the 3v3 gameplay of 10 matches.

Controls: 4.5

Like in most sporting games, if you play on your PC, you better purchase Xbox 360 controller. It’s more suitable to the hand, anyway, and it offers more simultaneous actions and a quicker response. But if you’re a keyboard fan, then it won’t take you ling to reset controls, so all the movements are controlled by the keys. This kind of experience contains much fewer motions, and shortcut set is too complicated. When you’re playing something hot and sporty it’s no good to sit still, but some like it cold.

Replay Value: 5

Like in most sports games, the replay value of NBA 2K16 almost absolute. Like in real sports, the end depends on your condition, on your rivals (virtual or living), on game mode or even on controls you use. But the better you master it, the more chances are you win in the end. Like in real life!

A PC installment of this game may lack that dynamic experience you get from playing on your console, up in front of a TV, with a controller in your hands and adrenaline rising in your blood. Sitting in front of a monitor is a different feeling. But if you get a controller, you may feel the original hazard of NBA 2K series.

If you’ve got a controller, install NBA 2K16 for the greatest basketball experience; otherwise purchase a controller first!

Pros : Great graphics and gameplay
Career story by Spike Lee
Soundtrack (epic as always, especially if you like hip-hop)

Cons : Keyboard controls provide much fewer dynamics and comfort
No Online Quick Match mode (it’s reserved for old consoles)
