Kitty Powers, which is a drag queen alter ego of a game developer Rich Franke, offers you a smartly styled dating simulator for lots and lots of carefree fun. Originally there was a mobile release-only, but now you can also download Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker for your PS4, Windows PC and MacOS.
The graphics in Kitty Powers are cartoonish and pretty simple, but developers are very skillful in creating one of a kind atmosphere of a sheer camp. The color palette matches beautifully with pictures of Katty Powers, and usually awkwardly overdressed characters and old-fashioned locations even deepen the overall charm of the game. Originally designed as a mobile app, it adds very little to the PS4 version, which can be disappointing when you think about so many lost opportunities.
It seems like Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is a work of genius: it takes a bunch of silly mini-games you play on Facebook to kill time and builds them into a dating agency narrative. Randomly generated customers come to Kitty in search for love, and you get a task of finding their best match. Each of the characters has particular features and preferences, so this won’t be easy.
During dates, you will face many challenges that are usually solved with the help of a card or memory game. Sometimes a character gets to make his/her date laugh or make up an exciting conversation thanks to your abilities of a patience player. Besides, there’s an element of trying your luck with games that don’t require anything but pure chance. The games are easy but never dull, and there is quite many of them to choose from. Another thing you can use to make a match is a good lie. This instrument will help you a lot if the characters are entirely unmatching of the start. But as you get up your matchmaking ladder, lying can become a grave threat to your reputation.
The game is witty and diverse, with lots of options for diversity. One of them being gay and lesbian dating, a feature, based on which many people review Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker positively.
You don’t need any particular skills, except maybe a sense of humor, because playing Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is as easy as it gets. It was initially released for iOS an Android and required nothing but a few taps, which soon became clicks on Windows PC and Mac OS platforms. It goes just as easily with a PS4 joystick. Another good thing about this dating simulator is the absence of in-app purchases along with a low price.
Replay Value: 3.5
Well, it’s not easy to state the replay value for Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker, because we’ve fallen for the game. Spellbounding design and witty gameplay quickly suck you in, and the character features, clothes, and mini-games diversify the whole experience. However, some users may find an endless repetition of dates selection tiresome. There is progress to the game so that when your reputation grows, the dates tend to become pickier and you get to unlock more locations and styling options.
Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is, for the most part, a matter of personal taste: if you’re into camp, British comedy and first date awkwardness, this is your top choice. But even if you’re not, there’s still a lot of things to enjoy, from its fun mini-games and to the character diversity. However, even the most faithful fans will eventually get tired of the game loop. It is highly recommended to compete in your matchmaking with friends!
The ever charming dating stimulator from the infamous London drag queen/game developer will keep you busy and amused, at least for some time. Download Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker for PS4 to get the most of its camp designs.
